Made a 200 mile trip the day before then went 20 miles and turned and got up to speed and it made a zipping noise and lost power. Motor will crank but not start. Flywheel and torque converter look good and spin while trying to start. Could I have gutted the transmision if do why wont the motor fire up
no spark.

I had the same problem with my 1993 suburban. It would run but suddenly lose power and the engine would stop. After a few minutes, it would usually start again and run for a while. Tried replacing everything, and I mean everything, but, in the end, it ended up being a worn cracked distributor cap. Replace this first and you may save yourself a bunch of dough.
