Tow haul quit working

I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado with 106000 Miles on it. I noticed the other day when I press the Tow/Haul button it don't work and the light on the dash won't light up. My guess is that a wire in the steering columb is broken from shifting so many times over the 106,000 miles but thought I would ask in case my window can be narrowed.

I pulled apart the steering columb and after tuging around found the wire broke in half. Soldered it together and it works like new
