2002 Chevy Silverado 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

i have a 2002 chevy silverado with the 4.3l v-6 I use it to tow my 26 ft bumper pull travel trailer but it seems to put the truck in a bit of a bind while towing even with the tow/haul button turned on. Have been thinking about getting a hypertech programmer to help with this but not sure, I have talked to a couple people that have them and they love them but they have v-8s in there trucks. Any suggestions on this matter?

Ok so tell me what is the GVWR on the door? Then what does the trailer weight? I don't think the 20hp gain at best would be the fix. The engine is just to small and don't have the torque needed to do the job with a trailer of that size. Don't get me wrong the 4.3 isn't a bad engine as V6's go but still is a V6.
