I have replaced the drivers side whell beering 3 times now in the past 5000 km. This is not right. There is no way I can have that much bad luck to have 2 bearing fail and I can hear the 4th startign to go again (after 800 km.

there is no vibration or anything when I drive.

Whats wrong here?

From what I am told the torque shoudl not really matter, as long as it is snugged up.

The mechanic said perhaps it was too tight and burnt out, BUT three times?

Perhaps it was too loose, BUT there is no vibration inthe steering.

Perhaps the threads are comprimised? The only solution I was told is perhaps use a second whasher to lengthen the threads to tighten.

At a real loss here

Are the bearings USA made? And are you hand packing or using a grease packing tool? Use a thread gague on spindle to see if O.K. Doubt that. Any galding on spindle?

The first bearing was a GM part, the second was from Canadain Tire and the third was a GM part again. All are toast.

The bearings are sealed units and no way to grease them. Not sure what Gaulding is but the spindle kind of looks good I guess.

1. Must tighten axle nut with wheel off ground
2. DO NOT reuse nut or premature bearing failure may occure.
Straight for GM
