2001 Chevy Silverado check engine light

My check engine light came on and now the speedometer and tach do not work. What could be the problem?

Have it scanned for trouble codes, then post the code numbers for us.

Before doing a diagnostic check the transmission would not change past second gear. A transmission code came up and come to find out it was just a loose fuse. Thanks for trying to help.
