1999 Chevy Silverado Transmission not shifting into overdri

Transmissioon will not shift into overdrive. Started abruptly, fine one day, next day will not shift into overdrive. Fluid is ok. Fluid does not have burned smell and is not dark in color. Fluid level is good.
Any ideas?

It could be a few things. Has the check engine light or any warning lights come on?

The check engine light is on but according to the code, it is not for the transmisssion. It is for the canister at the fuel tank. This is according to the counter person at the Auto Parts store that read the code for me.

Without a code, it becomes a guessing game. It could be the torque converter, but I can't be 100% sure.
