1999 Chevy Silverado V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Today it rained alot, I thought I was cool driving through the large puddles of water in my 1999 Chevy Silverado. Thought it was fun my truck is lifted. Well not so fun, when I turned my truck off I couldn't start it. The lights didn't dim at all, its just when I turn the Key there is no noise from the started at all. Checked the fuses, the batter terminals are all in nice n tight. I left it over night. To see if maybe it needed to dry. But it seemed like there no juice getting to the starter. Please help!

Hello -

To better assist you please tell me the model of your vehicle. Is it a C1500 etc. Also the engine size in liter and the 8th digit of your VIN.

Well, sorry the fun has turned bad.....

Just a couple of questions so we are saying the same thing.

You turn the key and nothing as in no noise at all... No engine movement... The lights come on the dash..... But the engine just sits nice and quiet?

Also, depending on the answer to the above... You said it seemed like no juice to the starter... Make sure you are safe about it... Can you turn the key to run... Then take jumper cables and go right from the battery positive post to the nut the positive cable it hooked to on the starter and see if the starter turns.

Its a c1500 V8 5.3L. The truck isn't here so I dont have the vin. I turn the key and there isn't n e engine noise. The lights come on, the stereo and everything else that runs on power. But when I turn the key its just flat. It sat all day today so hopefully something just got wet and needs to dry. Please respond asap! Thanks for everything!

Hello -

Okay, when you do get the VIN make sure you get that to me. It may be your ignition switch, it may be something else.

When you get a chance - do as I suggested above which was...". You said it seemed like no juice to the starter... Make sure you are safe about it... Can you turn the key to run... Then take jumper cables and go right from the battery positive post to the nut the positive cable it hooked to on the starter and see if the starter turns."

Also, please go to Auto Zone (AZ) or O'Reilly's (OR) and use their tool loan program and pull the codes. Most important: Once you check your codes, if you find something and you don't get it fixed and need to get back with us, please make sure you tell us exactly what the code was, number and all. Example, if the code was E0568 O2 Sensor bad. Then make sure you give us all of that.

Well I know there is power going to the starter becuz I grouded a screwdriver on the starter and it sparked. I took the starter out and I tried to turn the gear myself and it wouldn't turn. I took it to a local alternator/starter repair shop and they are going to test it and let me know if thats the problem. Also the starter seems to have a lot of debris. I will respond with vin number and also the update on the starter. Thanx
