How do I replace the axle seal

If it is right side(passenger side), you need to remove the tube assembly with the axle shaft. Disconnect the CV from the axle shaft by removing the 6 15mm bolts, it should lower out of the way and give enough clearance without removing the axle. Then you would remove the two 21 mm nuts that support it, and then the 5 15mm bolts that attach the tube to the case. The axle, tube, shift fork, and gear all come as an assembly. There is a snap ring and thrust washer that hold the axle in the tube. Remove that snap ring and washer, the axle will withdraw from the tube, and the seal can then be pryed out and replaced. Reassembly is pretty much reverse, the tube is sealed to the diff housing with anaerobic sealant, the GM part number is 1052943. It is also supplied by loctite, I am not certain of the trade number of that brand.
