1997 Chevy Silverado odometer and tachometer

My odometer and tach stopped working and also my truck only runs in 3rd gear and reverse. Any suggestions on what to look for to fix this?

Check your wiring to the trans if the trans doesnt see any signal from the computer it defaults to 3rd gear so you can still drive it, your speedometer is also eletronic and im not sure on the tach but my best geuse is to trace the wires.

Scince your tach isnt working it could be the crank postion sensor or the cam postion sensor. Is your engine running ok? Has the Truck been in the body shop at all?

Truck has and is running great. In fact yesterday afternoon all of a sudden everything is working and I cleared all the codes and so far so good.
