1979 Chevy Silverado V8 Four Wheel Drive Manual

i have a 400 small block chevy I replaced the plugs/wires/valve cover gaskets and header gaskets but still have oil leaking from the valve covers onto my exhaust also when trucks running it blows black then white if u reve the engine if u put ur hand by the exhaust ull get black stuff that looks like oil what could this be bad rings cracked head im unsure?

With that old of a truck it probably is valve guide seals, you probably do not have the special tools to change them so you will have to remove the heads and take them to machine shop, before you do that, you can take compression test, and squirt oil in the cylinders if the compression is higher than it is the rings, if the compression stays the same it is the Valves.
