Oil pressure drop

1996 S-10 2.2 FWD. The oil pressure drops down to very low or zero and I hear a rattle, as soon as I step on the gas it rises and the rattle goes away. I replaced the sending unit, Changed the OIL to a thicker grade, and replaced the pulley, What else could it be? If it is the pump I have to pull the engine. Which I have no money for. Is there anyway if I have to replace the pump or clean the screen, can I do this without completely dropping the pan? Will there be enough clearance to do this?

Help!

You will have to remove the pan, if for no other reason than you need to clean and reseal the pan! Trying to replace an oil pump and pickup with the pan in the way will really S_ _K! You may need to remove the bolts in the motor mounts and do a little engine jacking. If the motor raps already, this could be a waste of time!
