Have a 1996 chevy s10 with cfi fuel injection, oil pressure drops to zero on gauge at low rpm but no rattle or knock, does not affect drive-ability so switch is not cutting power to fuel pump, what could cause this?
Oil pressure comes back on acceleration, no engine noise in valve train or block, no loss of fuel pressure

Chances are the oil sending switch is bad. To check, you need to get a mechanical oil pressure gauge. Most parts stores will lend them to you. It will screw into the engine block where the oil switch is located. When you start the engine, you will see exactly what the pressure it. My guess, the switch is bad.

That was my guess too, according to schematic the truck will not run without that that three wire oil pressure/ fuel pump switch hooked up so how do I check it with a mechanical gauge?
