2003 Chevy S-10 Idle

Every now and then when I first start my truck the idle is very low and will stall. After hitting the gas a little for a few seconds the problem using goes away. The check engine light is on. Does any one recommend a good computer reader to buy? Can it be read by watching the flashing sequence?

If the check engine light is on, there is a code set in the computer. Take the vehicle to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer for codes. Most will do it for free, so there is no money out of pocket. It should identify where the problem is coming from.

NOTE: Also, check for vacuum leaks.
