Electrical problem
2001 Chevy S-10 6 cyl Manual 145000 miles

So my battery wouldn't hold charge so I replaced the alternator, that wasn't the problem. I replaced the battery, that wasn't the problem. They after reading some q&a from your website I tested the cable that is connected to the back of the alternator, and that seemed to be what wasn't carrying the charge. Only thing is that I took my car to chevy and they didn't even know what the next step was. Is that just a wire that can be replaced and the problem is fixed, or what else does that cable connect to? How do I fix this problem. And btw they also couldn't tell me a name for that cable. What is it. Please help, my truck has been sitting in the garage for some time now. HELP. Thanks

Mb12sr,

Any luck yet. I have a simular problem with my chevy s-10 pickup. Volts drop to 12 and the system runs off the bat until the bat goes dead. Tried replacing alt and bat and pos cable between the alt and bat. System worked normal for all of about 3 starts and then it went back to a bat light on and volts down 12 again. Something is shuting off the alt from providing power to the bat. If you find a solution let me know and I'll do the same.
