Is it true if I want to check to see if my fuel pump is bad I can remove the air filter cover, spray some starting fluid on the filter, try and start my truck and if it starts, I know I have a bad pump? Any other suggestions?

By spraying starter fluid into the intake and truck starts and stays running that is kind of a tell that your pump is weak. But if you spray starter fluid in and it starts and dies, does not automatically mean the pump is bad. You need to check power at the fuel pump on the gray wire while cranking and observe fuel pressure. I hope this helps
