Transmission problem
1998 Chevy S-10 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 130.00 miles

I had just replaced the cluch onmy 1998 chevy s10 about 1500 miles ago & now I can not shift it into gear unless I turn the engine off & put it into a gear that I want(first or second, the only ones that I can start off in)then start the engine & it will move. I hear a sort of rubbing noise not a grind some times when I accellerate also. Do you know what would cause this?

Hi
First you should check to see if the clutch was installed correctly and if you can't get it into gear unless the truck is shut off then you may have a slave cylinder that is bad causing the throw out bearing to not disengauge all the way. Start with this first.
