1998 Chevy S-10 timing

1998 Chevy S-10 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

i just had intake gaskets replaced and now I have starting problems like a kick but ran down road good. Can you adjust the timing with the distributer like on older cars and does this sound right?

The ignition timing is computer controlled.
