94 Chev S-10 v6 has a timing problem. Replaced timing gears and chain. Runs well, but will start acting like timing is off intermittently. After awhile, it will return to normal running. Where do I look next to determine the problem?

It starts to run rough, loses power. It runs like the timing is off. After awhile, it will run correctly again. My guess is that it somewhere in the electronics, but do not want to start replacing expensive parts without some expectation that they will correct the problem. After timing chain and rears were replaced, computer was also replaced. The computer made small difference, but problem still occurs.

The ignition time can be adjusted on that engine by disconnecting the timing connector but I really doubt this is a timing issue. You really need a scan tool to monitor all the sensor data to see what story it tells when this issue occurs. It's a TBI engine so it's pretty basic. Make sure the EGR isn't leaking through the base of the throttle body.
