I have a 98 Chevy S-10 that has started leaking transmission fluid out of the middle part, past the pan and before the transmission itself.I don't see it leaking from pan so I don't think the problem is there. DO I have to take it to a shop to check out or is there a way to change the seal or gasket on it? I can drive it but not over 20 without the speedometer bouncing up and down and the ABS light comes on.

The vehicle speed sensor(VSS) is on the left rear of the transmission. U joints are only about 25.00, but if you remove the drive shaft, you'll need to heat it with a tourch at the yolk, GM uses an epoxy to hold them in place, and the heat will melt the epoxy. The VSS ranged in price from 20-40 dollars! and can be any of these 3...
