1996 Chevy S-10 oil pressure

Why is the oil pressure high on my pickup, when normal the gage reads 40 and now it reads 60/65 why is this?

Hi there s10pickup and TY for the donation this is what keeps the site going

Check the oil pressure with a mechannical gauge if normal replace the oil pressure switch abnormal could be the oil pump pressure relief valve is sticking close not relieving the oil pressure
