1996 Chevy S-10 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

My 1996 S-10 engine misses badly when cold. As soon as it warms up, the missing is almost gone. I have changed the spark plugs (twice), distributer cap and points, and all spark plug leads. I have also changed the inline fuel filter. This seems to be getting worsw and worse. When I changed the spark plugs for the second time, it got much better for a while, and now is reverting back to it's old ways. What else can I troubleshoot to cure this problem, especially if it is related to a hot or cold engine.

Does it use any coolant, but has no leaks? Could be a very slight head gasket leak bleeding down into a cylinder overnight. Migh talso be a bad injector, those CPI engine had so many injector issues. The only cure is to install the updated injector (spider) Any black smoke on cold start when missing?

The coolant level remains the same, and I don't see any black smoke when starting. It appears to me to be more of an ignition issue. Could the electronic coil cause this?

Possible, but not real likely. More likely an injector issue
