Engine Performance problem
1996 Chevy S-10 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I recently replaced the head gasket on my truck. I have not been able to get it to run. It turns over and I have fire. I think the timing is way of. I have been trying to set it for over a week. Unable to do so. I get close but not close enough. I even bought a cheap timing light. I found the timing tab on the engine. And marks on the flywheel. What mark on the flywheel hits the tab. All of them. Where can I get printed instruction on setting the timing properly. That dose not cost a hundred dollars or requires a credit card. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

If your #1 cylinder is at TDC and the rotor button points directly at the #1 position on the distributor that is as good as it gets on these engines. There is no adjustment of timing that can be accomplished through the distributor.
