We bought this truck a month ago, and the dash lights won't work. Previous owner put in small lights that plug into cigarette lighter. The lights for the heater/ac controls work, but not the dash lights for the speedometer & fuel gages.

Hi:
It could be a few things. First, check under the dash for loose connections. If you don't find anything, make sure the fuses are all good. If they are, you may want to check the bulbs in the dash. If they are good, you may have a ground problem (BCM).

Let me know what you find.
Joe

If your gauges are working, it's the bulbs.
Remove the bezel, carefully pull the internal panel, disconnect the wiring harness, it's on the bottom left of the gauge panel.
Twist the blue socket behind the speedo, if it's got a black haze inside the bulb, it needs replaced. Each of the bulbs will run from $5 - $20 depending on where you get them. These bulbs are soldered to the bulb socket.

If your gauges don't work, the gauge wiring harness might have a short probably the ground wire or the gauge panel has a break in the board.
