What do the 2 small wires on the top of the alternator on a 91 chevy s10 with a 2.5L 4cylinder do?

If they are black they are ground, other wise I know at least one of them (brown I believe) signals the battery lamp on your dash. Big red of course goes to battery.

One is pink with a black stripe and one is brown. I know the big red wire goes to the battery, but I was wondering if the brown and pink have anything to do with charging? Also how do I check if the alternator is charging?

Yeah that brown wire goes to the battery light, the other im not sure but im sure it doesnt have anything to do with charging. If you have a volt meter, check battery for volts, engine off. It should be about 12.5 volts.
With the engine running a good alternator will put out about 14.5 volts (checked at the battery). If you have a lot of accesories turn everything on(heavy load) and note the voltage.
