I have replaced the starter within the last 15000 miles

Can someone please help me? I can't turn the key past accessory to unlock the shifting column and effectively start/move my car. This issue has occurred in the past but I have always been able, thru jiggling the steering wheel and toggling the key, to get it to start (after a couple hours or maybe days). I think the pins are sticking in the tumbler or something like that. I did have the tumbler cleaned and lubed a few times when this issue started in '07 (my mechanic seemed baffled.), Have also since had the starter replaced within the last 15K( hoping this might help). Also the vehicle does have remote start--which always works--but I still can't turn the key or a spare fully to "on"; this means I can't get her out of park. And as soon as I tap the brake it's over. I was wondering how I could A) override the locking feature on the shifter to put it in neutral for a tow, or (B) how to confirm my self-diagnostic and locate the neccessary parts to fix this issue (a woman's gotta work!) If option B prevails, is this something you think my boyfriend could read up on and fix himself (and do you know of any sources for the mechanical info-lol). Or should I just get my part(s) and have them installed professionally? I apologize for the plethora of questions, but I hope you truly understand how dire in need I am of answers since nobody seems to have any advice. Thanks a million and God Bless :)

It does sound like the tumbler is bad and there really is no way to bypass it. Replacing it requires the removal of the steering wheel and part of the steering column. You don't need to be a man to fix it, but a good repair manual would be helpful. For me to try to explain it via the internet would allow too much room for error, so I do have to recommend you get a repair manual. They do offer a repair manual on this site that would be less than purchasing a book. You may want to check that out.
