Wheel stud replacement!

I was replacing a flat tire on my 93 or 94 cavalier (rear tire) and since it hadn't been changed in years, three of the wheel studs sheared off. I can't pound the studs out because there is a metal shroud all around the backside of the hub. My buddy said his friend told him that the hub should just come off and it's probably just stuck on like the lugs were becuase it's been a while since it's been off. He said grab a big f'n hammer and pound it off. Before grabbing a BFH I would like a second opinion to make sure.

Thanks for the help. Yeah, I got to the point where I didn't care if I cracked the drum or not becuase I mean it was on there. I banged the heck out of it and on my last mighty swing it came off. Ther was a gear inside but there is no way to it without getting the drum off.
