This Chevy Tracker runs great until you stop and let it ilde like at a red light or stop sign. It will quit and not restart for about 5 minutes. It may idle for 30 minutes but when it stops it will not start.

There are no computer codes. Fuel pressure and voltages are all normal. We have changed the fuel pump and filters. We have checked spark during the down time and it is normal. This is driving my mechanic nuts. Can you help us.

I have heard of other trackers doing this but I have not been able to find a verified fix.

Try cleaning the Idle Air Control Motor. Also clean out around the butterfly in the throttle bore with carb cleaner and a rag. This should help stabilize the idle. Might be an Idle speed motor that it sticking, they dont always set a code

During some testing yesterday we found that when the engine shuts down the timing goes crazy. It retards irratically. There still is not a computer code.

We still have not found the problem. My mechanic is trying to find the crank sensor. Could it be located inside the bell housing? There seems to be no obvious sensor visible in the normal places.

Still looking!
