1976 Other Chevrolet Models engine dies on hard pulls

1976 Other Chevrolet Models V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

1976 chevy motorhome. When pulling a mountain, acts like it runs out of gas. Will start back up after a few moments. Has had fuel pump replaced last spring, also backfies when going down hill in 2nd or low gear. Does need some exhaust work. Someone suggested it could be vapor lock. Any other thoughts?

Check the fuel pressure to rule out a failing fuel pump and also check the cfule filter. Could also be that the choke plate is binding not fully opening when engine is warmed-up. Check the ignition timing and also the air injection diverter vlave.
