My fuel pump is leaking. The top portion of the fuel pump had a small, silver tube about 1 inch in length and.25" in diameter. Fuel is "spitting" from this uncapped tube upon starting the car

Hi Sam62,

Thank you for the donation.

Our database does not have any information on your vehicle given its age so I am not able to understand the problem. Is it possible to upload a picture so we can understand better?

I thought I had uploaded a picture, but maybe the size is too large.

The extension is the breather for the pump and fuel coming out of it means the diaphragm inside is bad and leaking.

The pump seems to be serviceable with screws holding the rims of the center on which the diaphragm is located. Problem would be getting a new diaphragm.

If you are not able to get the replacement part, then a new pump would be required.
