Car won't start

1996 Monte carlo 190k recently car won't start put the key in and all gauges and radio works fine. Turn the key and nothing. I have a security chip on my key could this be going bad. Everything in the charging system is fine what could be the problem?

Have a 96 monte also that did the same thing. There are 2 small white wires located on the ignition tumblers and one of them broke causing the security light to come on and not allow the car to start. We ended up replacing the whole ignition tumblers to by pass the security system all together as the wires are very fragile. Good luck with that. In the Hayes manual it will tell step by step how to do that.
