My check engine light has came on before and it was a vacuum line that popped off. Not the case this time. It has had a hard time starting lately, so I figure it would be the fuel filter and/or the starter. We changed the fuel filter last week and put fuel injecter cleaner in it with a full tank of gas. Well, same problem, so I am really thinking the starter is going out I went to the store and when I came out to start it, it gave me a hard time. I gave it some gas upon starting it and reved it up a tad and the check engine light came on again and will not go off. I do not see any hoses loose or off.

Hello,

The check engine light gets illuminated when the on-board diagnostics detects issue(s) with the engine management system. It could be due to a bad sensor or a faulty component that is not functioning properly. It can also be related to an emission issue. Like a faulty oxygen sensor or a leak in the emission system.

Any time the check engine light comes on, the best course of action is to scan the vehicle and retrieve the trouble code(s). As that can help with the diagnostics.

Here is a helpful article:

Please let me know what code(s) you find.

Thank you.
