2001 Chevy Monte Carlo Check Engine Light

Hi,

My check engine light came on about 3 months ago and then after a couple of days turned off. Last week it flashed again then turned off the following day. It flashed again last night and is still on. There have never been any problems to make me even think of getting it checked out but last night I went to slow down and it shut down completely but then started right up. No problem since then - is this something that you think I need to get check out or just an electrical glitch?

You should hook up an autoscanner and check for codes, including pending codes even if the car doesn't act bad.
This will give you an insight of what's going on.

Usually if the light stays on steady there is something minor wrong like a evap problem. But when they blink, that usually means get it looked at right away.
