Is your security light blinking?
If so, try this GM passlock relearn procedure:

1: Turn your key like you're gonna start the car and let the key go back to 'run';
2: wait for about 10 minutes until 'security' goes off.
3: Turn your key to off, wait 5 seconds

Start at step 1 again and go thru the procedure for an additional two times (three relearns total).

At the end of the third time, turn your key to off for 5 seconds and then turn on your car.

If it doesn't help, you may need to have your car checked at a GM dealer. When you unhooked the battery, did you have a memory saver plugged in?
