02 Monte Carlo, having intermittent starting problems. Turn the key but nothing, jiggle the key and it will start after some time. Didn't start yesterday at all, this morning jumped the started and it turned over. Now it starts using the key. Question - is it the ignition key cylinder?

No, possible switch. You need to verify power to the starter with the key in the start position. It sounds like a failed starter motor

When I jumped the starter I had the key on and it started, then died. Wouldn't that prove power to the starter? Just tried it again and it started.

No, it proved you gave the starter a jump start with a lot of voltage. The small prurple wire needs to be hot in the start position. If it is, then the starter is bad. If not, then you have a wiring issue, not the tumbler but needs to be checked from the switch out to the starter.

Got it. When I put the screwdriver on the purple post it sparked before jumping. I am going to pull the started and have it checked.
Thanks
