2000 Chevy Monte Carlo Warning Message

A warning message came on today that said "service traction system" also the "ABS" lite came on and stayed on. Just wondering if this is serious or a malfuntion or just a ploy to get me to the dealer.

You probably have a problem with one of your front ABS sensors or the wiring.
