Im having the same problem with my Malibu as the person above. My car wont go over 30 miles an hour without feeling like its pulling. The RPM's are going up by it wont pick up speed. Today when I stopped at a stoplight my car actually conked out. I started back up again and every time I pushed the break in to stop my car started shaking and felt like it was going to conk out again. Has anyone else had this issue? If so what did you do? Any feedback you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Is your check engine light on? That's the first place to start. AutoZone will usually scan your computer for free.

Also, a technician could use a more sophisticated scanner to monitor your vehicle while taking it on a test drive. This would pin-point the problem.

Yours does sound rather complicated.
First, when your engine is accelerating, if the r.P.M.S are increasing but the car isn't gaining speed, that's indicative of a transmission problem.

Second, if your engine stalls at idle (or while hitting the brakes), that's indicative of a fuel/ignition problem with your engine.

The first step is to have your computer scanned. There's no sense guessing. Once you get the codes from you computer, write back and I'll help you from there.
