Engine Mechanical problem
1998 Chevy Lumina 6 cyl 199000 miles

I have a 1998 chevy lumina car runs great but recently had a alternator replaced, Today went to put gas in car because car was on empty and the car would not start would just click then got a jump and the car would would come on lights, radio etc. But would not turn over. Can someone tell me the problem and will it be expensive to repair.

From what I understand, your car cranks but doesn't start, right?
If that's the case, and since you mentioned your fuel tank being empty, the first thing I would check is your fuel pump; when you drove the car on an almost empty tank, you may have damage the fuel pump.
Do you hear your fuel pump coming on when you turn your key to ON?
If not that would be a good indicator.

Now, if you mean that the car doesn't even crank (just a click from the solenoid), first thing i'd do is to get the battery tested at an auto part store to make sure it's good. Once we know your battery condition we can do more troubleshooting.

Come back with what you find out.
