1998 Lumina when the ignition switch is turned I get nothing. I replaced the starter and still nothing, all fuses and the starter relay have been checked. How can I tell if the ignition switch and transmission switches are good without tearing the stearing column apart?

Welcome to the forum, do you think the theft/security system, might be causing a problem? Try a different key.

I will try a different key but I don't think this car has a theft/security system on it. The security system light does flash on and off when the ignition is in the on position.

All I can say, is my database shows a security system on the starter circuit. If it refuses to start and the security lite is flashing, leave the key in the on position, see if the lite will stop flashing, if it does, then try to start. You may have to wait ten minutes or so.

10 min wait with ignition on did not correct the problem. Any other suggestions?

If you have the pellet in the key, check resistance. If it doesn't check out, replace the key.

I will check the key. How do I know the key code? And do I measure resistance between the key and the metal on the pellet?

Check the resistance from one side of pellet to the other, note the reading, find it on the chart.
