1993 Chevy Lumina Rough idling

When I start my lumina euro it idles fine in park and neutral when I put it in drive or reverse the rpm gauge shakes real fast making the engine die out once in a while the car hesitates when I hit the gas. It was all running fine until I fixed my alternator and put a new one on. Do you have any suggestions what could be wrong.

Hi:
A rough idle can be caused by many things. How you described it sounds like there may be a problem with the Throttle Position Sensor. Do the RPM's go up and down before the engine dies?

Also, have you had the computer scanned for codes? Most nationally recognized parts stores will do it for free, and it could help point us in the right direction.
