I have a 92 lumina that idles funny. 3.1 Auto. My codes give out EGR failure, so I replaced EGR valve but did not help, not cheap either. But is worse when sitting still (idile) in gear. I cleaned throttle body, didn't help. I also changed the PCV valve. I also had other codes come up 43 and 35. But after replacing EGR valve and cleared the codes I can't get these codes to come back. Found codes online 43 is knock sensor, and 35 is electronic spark control. Could it be one of these? Oh also when sitting in car I can smell gas fumes, but the kind that smells like non burnt exhaust fumes. If that makes sense. Thanks guys.

Did you clean out the passageway for the egr? Carbon will plug the passageway up. Use a pipe cleaner or wire to poke a hole through it, spray a good quality intake cleaner in it. A small wire brush can help to scrub out the rest of it.

I did spray it alittle but was afraid to spray to much, and I didn't use a brush or anything to clean it out. So you think that's what I should try so I will. Thank you very much, I'll let you know if it works.
