If you are wanting to remove the pressure on the belt, most autopart stores have a tool you can rent that will make it easier. It has a flat head and will fit in tight places that a breaker bar or ratchet cannot.

If you are wanting to remove the tensioner, it's normally a 15mm socket and a ratchet

I use my 1/2 break over bar with a socket on it that goes to 3/8. There is a square hole on the tensioner that this fits in. The bar gives you easy leverage being that I use the 18'' one and push toward the firewall, take off the alternator first with the left hand while I am using the bar with the right hand, easy as it is all right there at you in one place. Hope this helps.
