Service traction control light on

My car is shaking and feels like the brakes lock up, which then causes shaking of the car and the traction control light goes on and blinks while this is happening. What can be causing this?

This happens when one of the ABS wheel speed sensors goes out but to be sure here is ahow to scan for codes to see which one it is with diagrams below to help show you on your car.

Today while I was driving a signal "service traction control" appeared in th einstrument panel followed by the engine symbol a few minutes later. Is it likely they are related?

Mostlikely it is, but you must have it scanned, in order for us to go in the right direction, autozone does it for free
