Many different things can dictate the life of a cat converter. If there have been engine problems such as a blown head gasket, the coolant contamination can shorten the life, as well as oil contamination. If you are getting a "cat efficiency low" code, I would take it to the dealer and see what th ewarranty is for emissions. Its ony 6 years old and under 100k miles you may be able to get itwarrantied. Otherwise you will need to replace the entire cat converter.
