I have a 2000 Chevrolet Impala 3.4L lately my coolant has been getting flushed back out of my radiator and my car is constantly overheating. I'm trying to find out what the problem is because the coolant will not stay in the radiator.

Hi:
I would start with replacing the thermostat. It is a cheap repair. Also, when replacing the coolant, make sure to us the correct type. DO NOT MIX DEXCOOL WITH ANY OTHER TYPE.

Let me know if you have questions, and if this helps.

Ok I had did what you said and replaced the thermostat also I replaced my water pump. It's still overheating and its starting to smoke by my radiator (round top hose). Now I'm trying to figure out why it is still overheating.

Hi:
With the engine cold, if you open the radiator cap and start the car, does the coolant shoot out?

Hi:
If it blows the coolant out when it's cold like it's under pressure, chances are you have a head gasket problem. What you need to do is check compression to see if one or more of the cylenders is low on compression. Go to this web site for directions.

https://www.2carpros.com/dia/how_to_check_compression.htm

Let me know what you find.
