The service engine light comes on and I get a PO300 and a PO400 engine code. I had a head gasket leak and have repaired both heads. The car seems to run fine at idle and while driving. I have been told that the EGR Valve needs to be replaced. How do you know if this is true?
Also, is there any problem running the car on regular unleaded gasoline or does it have to run on premium unleaded and could this be a factor?

I would suggest premium for that car. Also for the egr, if the egr is shorted then it would have to be replace. If the pintle is sticking you can try to clean it but most likely it wont work. My suggestion is to replace it.
