2007 Chevy Cobalt engine overheating

Engine is heating up to 245 and fan continues to run after shutting off engine

Inspect coolant level. If OK, inspect thermostat to ensure it is opening properly. Are the fans kicking on during operation as well? Cooling fans should run for a short time after engine is off to cool engine down properly.
