Electrical problem
1998 Chevy Cheyenne 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Hello my rear brak lights do not work the bulbs are ok all the fuses are ok. They do not work with the emergancy lights or turn signals. The running lights work there are 3 sets of bulbs the top 2 are working only the lower light bulb does not light up and this is the brakeing light. I can only guess it is the brake lamp rely but I do not know if there is a test or any way other then replacing it to know. I just replaced the brake light relay and it did not fix it. The 3rd cab brake light works and I switched out the bulbs. Any help? Thank YOu

Welcome, do you have a high-mount brake lite, does it work? If not, check the circuits at the brake switch. Orange wire to switch is hot all the time, when switch is activated, the white wire goes hot. The switch should be activated by upper brake pedal arm. Any fuse you checked, did you use a testlite, to see if circuit was hot?

Thanks for the reply. The cab brake light does work. I have not tested any of the fuse links other then switching fuses. I just replaced the relay switch no luck. You are saying I should check the fuse connections with a meter?
Thanks again

Your lower brake lites are wired through the multifunction switch. I'd check the circuits at that switch.
