I was just given the car and it does not start. It gets spark, and cranks, but I don't think it's getting fuel. It had the pump replaced around 30,000 miles ago, but that was like 4 yrs ago. A mechanic said that it needs to be replaced again. Is there any other likely fixes, I'd like to start simple before I make it complicated. Any ideas?

A fuel pump is not complicated. It is a straight forward job. There is a fuse behind the right front headlight for it and if it is blown, then the pump is seized.

So if it's a 20 amp fuse, it's not blown. But I can't hear the fuel pump when I turn the key to the on position either. Any other ideas?

Where is the fuel pump relay located so I can start simple and work from there?

Right where the fuse was located. There is a single primer wire that when you apply 12 volts it goes right to the pump and bypasses all controls.

Check for proper fuel supply first then look at filter and sock of the fuel pump. Common on older vehicles.

So I checked the fuse, and if it's a 20 amp fuse its intact.

When the ignition is in the "on" position, I can't hear the fuel pump. I would like to try to keep the repair cost as low as possible for now so I would like to replace the fuel pump relay first. Anyone able to tell me where that is? Also if anyone has any other idea as to what might be causing it not to start, I am all ears.

Try smacking fuel tank with palm of hand hard. Sometimes they start, dont'know for how long but it works sometimes. If you have a 2.5L it's on the right side of firewall rear of engine. 2.8Lpic attached.
