When do I know I am truly running out of time to replace the back pads? Also, how long could this car run mileage wise? I know you can't predict, but I always change the oil at the appropriate time and take good car of it. I would like to get 250K. Is this a good possibility? What is the average life of this type of car?

Hello,

When do you hear the grinding sound? If when you press the brakes then you need brake now, and most likely will need brake rotors because the grinding sound it the metal part of the brake pad, meaning the brake pad itself is no longer there, is contacting the brake rotor and is grinding it down.

As far as how long the vehicle will last, that is pretty much impossible to determine. Anything can happen at anytime and it won't matter if regular maintenance is done or not. Don't get me wrong the regular maintenance help it's just not a guarrantee.
