2000 Chevy Cavalier unable to clear check eng. Light

I hooked up my code scanner to the car. It will not respond with the car. I checked my connections. I tried my scanner on a nother car. It did fine. I heard the ing. Switch might causes this problem. Any help on where to look. Thanks steve

Take a look at your fuses and make sure they are ok. Let me know what you find and ill try to give you a hand

I checked all the fuses in the fuse box, are ok. Checked the ones under the hood, ok also. Thanks for your help steve

Does the scan tool power up when just hooked up to the obd2 connector under the dash

Yes it does, it says vehical not responding check connection

Does your code scanner require a seperate power cord. Double check your fuses, usually when a code scanner doesnt communicate with the vehicle it means there is no power at the obd2 connector. Check the cigar lighter. Usually thats the one that causes it
